Description: Students will prepare gourd surface for carving, then choose design and learn how to draw design on gourd (2 design choices). Finished examples will be on hand to look at. Using gouges of various sizes, chip carve a design. We will then stain, polish and complete by doing final chip carving sequence. Gouges I use are # 11x1/4”, # 11x3/16” and #11x1/8”veiner. Instructor will provide sand paper, stain and polish. Students must provide: all gouges, protective glove, compass, pencil and eraser. I will provide gourd.
