![]() Code: S - 8 - 10 How To Make a Gourd Lute Instructor: Geofrey Morgan Level: All Students: 15 Fee: $92 Description: Learn how to make a great sounding lute. You will clean, cut and scrape out the gourd. The gourd is prepped for the goat skin head. You will cut and soak the skin and attach it to the gourd using glue and tacks. A neck is prepared by carving one end of a wooden dowel; the neck is then attached to the gourd body. A bridge is carved and attached to the body and strings are then attached to the neck using leather straps. At the end of the class Geof will include technique's for playing and for the care of your lute. Materials included in cost are: Gourd, goat skin, glue, tacks, wax shoe polish, wooden dowel, string material, leather straps and all tools. Supplies students SHOULD bring if possible: lunch and sense of humor |
