IRON GOURD
COMPETITION

The challenge continues!

1.     The exciting 2nd annual Iron Gourd Competition will feature individuals working to create a winning gourd in just 6 hours. All work for the gourd will be done by one person. Joint efforts are not allowed. 

2.     There will be one competition day Saturday only. Starting at 9 a.m. participants will select their gourd.  Only one final submission is allowed per participant.  

3.     The winners of this competitions will be crowned “IRON GOURDER”.   

4.     Prize money will be awarded along with the right to be called “IRON GOURDER” for the next year. The $50 “People's Choice” will be awarded to the winner of this competition.  The winner will be determined by the number of “ballots” cast by visitors who have purchased tickets ($1 per ticket) and dropped in the box at the artists’ work stations as they are working. 

5.     Announcement of winners will take place prior to the annual auction on Saturday evening. The grand finale will be the auction of the winning gourd and the presentation of the remaining gourds.  All other gourds will be won by drawing a ticket from each persons ballot box.  The tickets from the ballot box of the gourd that wins the "People's Choice will be distributed evenly among the remaining ballot boxes.   

6.     Competitors must bring all their own tools to work on their gourd and any additional items they might want to incorporate into their masterpiece.   Competitors will be required to bring all lighting and extension cords as well.  Additionally each participate will be given an item at the start of the competition that MUST be included in their finished product.

8.  All participants will be notified via email what type of gourd they will be required to do their project on so they can begin their artistic impression of what they will be working to complete approximately two weeks prior to the event.
