Activities Schedule

Listed are the monthly activities and only the gourd requirements for the Seminole Patch.  OTHER needed items and needed donations will be given out in the month preceding each activity.  For this information, please contact one of the Patch leaders  shown on the "Gourd Patch Meetings" page of the FGSI website.

         SEMINOLE PATCH ACTIVITY LIST  for 2008-2009 (Jan.)

1)      Anything  Goes” (Mar. 8)- No special gourd shape required - Bring your own     gourd and supplies to work on anyway you choose.)

          Also time for sharing and cutting bowls for coming activites.

2)     Inks / Philly Sheath Rim (Apr. 12) Bill & Diane – Any medium size gourd ( 6-8 inch diameter) that you would like to try out inks on.  You will be doing random colorizing

          Also time for sharing and cutting bowls for coming activities. 

3)     Faux Raku (May 10) -  Bottle or kettle gourd with top cut off and inside cleaned out to make a vessel

4)      Masks  (June 14) Roz and Brad– any shape or size gourd that you can visualize as a mask when cut in half  (may want to go together to buy one with some else since only one half is needed.

5)     Tenerife (July 12) Weaving on a Gourd  Barbara and Diane  

Any gourd such as bottle or kettle with an area large enough to cut a 4 inch hole into to weave. You really need two holes , one for the teneriffe and one to get you hand inside.

6)     Colored Pencil (Aug. 9) Marcia– any shape - medium sized gourd (6-8 in diameter) 

7)           Sculpting with paper clay  (Sept. 13) Liz–  Any size gourd or shape gourd that you can visualize a LITTLE bit of paper clay added to form the sculpture  Any gourd with a flat bottom is good for sculpting..Bottle gourds for chicken or hens and giraffe's..any inspirational creatures are welcome.

8)      Woodburning  (Oct. 11) Bill –   Any size gourd that you could fit a pattern on.  (Or you may choose to bring another simple pattern of your own.) 

9)      Santa Ornament  (Nov. 8) Jeanie– banana gourd

10)     Kachina Doll (Dec. 13)  Fonda (Louise)    (dolls made by the Southwest Native Americans)– Gourd Shape?   You choose. One that is about 4 times taller than it is wide. You may use an end cut off a snake gourd.

The kachinas don’t have to have feet, but need to be flat for standing or cut flat at the bottom to stand.     

 11)     Beading –(Jan. ? ) Ann and Garnet  - No specific type gourd specified, but you may want to get a gourd that you can cut a hole in large enough to fit you hand.  This class will offer many possibilities.  More details will be given later.
